History

Karma, guilt, sin and reasons are traps.  They are used so that you do not pay attention to the present moment. If you are paying attention to the moment you are in, the one right in front of your face, then what needs to change?  Karma, guilt, sin and reasons are the “mind/thoughts” way of making you believe that you can change something; that you have something to do with the changes in your life. However, change happens, in spite of you. In fact, the only reason that there is the concepts of karma, guilt, sin and reasons, is because you “think” there is a “you” to fix, to get better, to make different. However, as you begin to notice that things just naturally change, no matter what you think; then you begin to see, that the “you” you thought you were/are, doesn’t actually exist.

History (which has been called “His Story” because it is told by the ones invested in telling it). History is make believe and is only valid by the ones that believe in it and usually is used to serve some kind of point that one wants to make.

What I really enjoyed the most about this class is the interaction with other students. It is a way to actually speak more openly (via the Internet) about topics rather than in person when the emotions can get in the way. Through this venue it allows the time to look and reflect and respond in a way that you get to see things more broadly. I am so very grateful for this way of schooling. And I am grateful you teach this class this way.

Ultimately there is only one problem and that is that one *thinks* things should be some other way than how they are. However, since it is asked to look at the so-called “problem” with education one prime example came up this week from Ethnicity class.

Although it is said that Socrates never wrote anything, his teachings have been able to withstand the years of change and still have an impact on our lives today. We are still able to learn and grow from what he taught. Socrates is said to have looked outside himself for divine guidance his "oracle" gave him answers to his questions by using "divine signs." What he proved (at least to himself) is what relates to my paper - that looking for the answers to his questions from other humans was at the least a disappointment because of their limited views and interpretations. Socrates' conclusion was that, since he knew nothing and excepted the fact that he knew nothing, he was wiser than all men.

No story ... no emotion ... no you. When importance isn't given to the story ... a story ... any story ... it simply drops ... it is the same with emotion ... when both drop there is nothing that remains. However, it is not nothing like deadness ... it is simply nothing that can be referenced with the mind and yet you begin to discover by dropping the stories that what they were hiding is actually the True You.

India philosophy is often denigrated in the West because the West’s mentality depends on material and physical form and senses and to not denigrate the awareness of the world being an “illusion” would make every belief and everything they do and work for meaningless (to those that would wish to keep it real).    But just because you want to keep something real, doesn’t make it real.
